Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 4, 2026

This policy explains how OpenRun handles website, app, Garmin health, and user-started training data. Garmin health collection is off until you actively allow it.

1. Who we are and how to contact us

OpenRun is an early-stage basketball platform for finding courts, games, players, workouts, and training insights. For privacy or data requests, email kaenitube123@gmail.com.

2. Data we collect

The waitlist may collect your email, optional name, city or play area, country, beta interest, signup and consent time, referral information, IP address, browser details, and security logs. The OpenRun app may also process account details and the basketball content you choose to create.

3. Garmin health and training data

After you give explicit consent, the OpenRun Garmin app may send data to OpenRun through the companion iPhone app. Depending on your watch, firmware, settings, and Connect IQ availability, this may include steps, calories, active minutes, floors, heart rate, stress, Body Battery, Pulse Ox, respiration, temperature, pressure, elevation, timestamps, timezone, device identifiers, sync status, and user-started OpenRun FIT session summaries. Unavailable measurements are omitted. This data is submitted to OpenRun, not to Garmin. Garmin is not responsible for OpenRun's handling of it.

4. What the Garmin integration does not collect

The current integration does not collect GPS routes, use Apple HealthKit, import activities created in Garmin's own apps, or automatically count basketball shots. Demonstration values shown on the watch are labelled as demo data.

5. Why we use data and our legal basis

We use data to operate accounts and the waitlist, provide OpenRun features, sync user-requested Garmin training and health information, show private trends, prevent abuse, troubleshoot, and improve reliability. In the EU or EEA, we rely on consent for Garmin health data and optional communications, contract where needed to provide requested services, legitimate interests for security and basic operations, and legal obligations where applicable.

6. Retention and deletion

Timestamped raw Garmin samples are retained for no more than 30 days. Daily summaries and user-started OpenRun session summaries remain until you delete them or close the relevant service, unless a longer period is legally required. Waitlist data is kept only while needed for early access and launch communication. In the iPhone app, open Health and choose Delete all Garmin data to revoke consent, remove the device link and local queues, request deletion from OpenRun, and tell the watch to clear its OpenRun health queue. You may also email us if the app is unavailable.

7. Service providers and transfers

We use service providers such as Supabase for database and authentication services, Vercel for website hosting, Garmin Connect Mobile for companion communication, Apple for iPhone distribution, and an email provider such as Resend when email is enabled. Providers may process data outside your country under appropriate legal safeguards. We do not sell personal or Garmin health data.

8. Security and your choices

OpenRun limits Garmin records to the signed-in owner and uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no system is completely secure. You may decline Garmin consent and still use non-health parts of the watch prototype. You may later withdraw consent and request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability where local law provides those rights. You may also complain to your data protection authority.

9. Health notice and younger users

OpenRun health and training information is for fitness and basketball education only and is not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or an emergency service. Stop activity if you feel unwell and contact a qualified professional when needed. OpenRun is not intended for children under 13; if we learn that such data was collected without valid permission, we will delete it.

10. Changes

We may update this policy as OpenRun develops. Material changes will be identified on this page or in the app before newly covered Garmin health processing begins.
